Charlene Alana Nixon, affectionately referred to as the First Lady of Networking among her peers, is a born giver, teacher, and connector. She teamed up with Michael Brathwaite and Todd Hallinger, the Executive Directors of Manhattan BNI in 2005, to help build the Manhattan region of BNI, which is now the third largest BNI region in the United States. Michael and Todd took the blueprint of BNI-style networking, which was originally designed for a suburban environment, and transformed it to work successfully within a metropolitan setting without compromising its design. Together the three hold over 80 years of sales and networking experience.
Charlene started her sales and networking career in fashion apparel and bridged to gold and precious stones, where she managed one of the largest retail chains, multimedia outlets, and specialty stores. This alliance has given her first-hand practical knowledge and experience into the hidden elements of networking successfully. In addition to her strong ties to her New York team, Charlene has also developed alliances and friendships with her global BNI partners, learning their struggles and successes, and how they were able to navigate in their world of networking. These relationships have given her the tools to reach a global audience on the art of networking the right way and making networking work for you.
Charlene was born on the island of Trinidad and emigrated to the United States at the ripe old age of 20. She is the mother of three and a grandmother. She holds a degree of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education and uses her hands-on experience, knowledge, and education to compile simple “to-dos,” taking her passion for teaching-through-sharing on the road in a series of workshops. She shares her proven steps to achieving success through Effective Networking.
